An explanation for the absence of Leeds United talent Joe Gelhardt from the club’s squad to face Leicester City has been provided on Sunday evening.
Barnes cancels out Raphinha Marcelo Bielsa’s side were of course back in Premier League action a short time ago.
After stringing together a much-needed pair of encouraging results over the last couple of weeks, the Whites welcomed Leicester to Elland Road, aiming to make it three without defeat heading into the international break.
And, much to the delight of the home support in attendance, this is precisely what Leeds ultimately went on to do.
After Raphinha’s opener midway through the first-half was cancelled out almost immediately by Harvey Barnes, the hosts, at times, rode their luck, to eventually emerge with a hard-fought share of the spoils:
Leeds were in front for all of and they spent most of that time celebrating.
After Raphinha’s opener, Harvey Barnes struck back with an absolute from kick-off.

Absence explained Amid an otherwise positive afternoon for their side on Sunday, though, one concern brought to the fore on the part of the Leeds faithful came in the form of the absence of Joe Gelhardt.
Young hitman Gelhardt has of course been a regular in the first-team setup at Elland Road over recent weeks, with his displays off the bench having culminated in calls for more consistent game-time moving forward.
In turn, his complete omission from the Peacocks’ matchday squad versus Leicester came as quite a surprise.
Speaking in his post-match interview this evening, Marcelo Bielsa was therefore inevitably drawn on the situation.
And the Leeds boss went on to confirm that Gelhardt picked up a slight fitness problem during an appearance for the club’s U21s during the week, ruling him out of today’s proceedings as a result.
Gelhardt took a knock on Tuesday night with the 21s. Wasn’t 100 per cent for today. #lufc https://t.co/1dv9lWI974
