What United need to do to get rid of “one of the worst” in their squad now revealed – report

Manchester United need to get rid of a lot of deadwood come the end of the season. While a few are currently a part of the first team squad, many are out on loan. One of them is Andre Onana. Signed by Erik ten Hag as David de Gea’s successor, the ex-Ajax ace made more high-profile blunders than saves during his time in Manchester. Arguably “one of the worst goalkeepers” to don the United jersey, the Cameroonian was banished to Trabzonspor after a series of mistakes last season and at the start of the current campaign. Andre Onana, arguably the worst goalie in United’s recent history While the Turkish side would love to sign the African ace permanently in the summer, it is unlikely they can afford to pay the goalie’s wages and meet INEOS’ asking price. The Cameroon international had expressed his desire to return to Old Trafford in a bid to resurrect his United career, but INEOS are simply not interested. As per recent reports, the 29-year-old’s former club Inter Milan are keen on a reunion and even met with the goalkeeper’s agents. Andre Onana earns €108,269 per week including bonuses at Trabzonspor (via capology), more that he would have earned at Old Trafford. Payoff required And he is unlikely to take a paycut to join the Nerazzurri. As revealed by The Daily Mail, the Red Devils might need to pay him off to finally get rid of him. “Andre Onana could be handed the opportunity to return to Inter Milan from Manchester United this summer after his agents held talks with the Serie A club. “Onana still owns a property in Milan, although wages could be a stumbling block. Onana was given a pay rise when he joined Trabzonspor from United once it became clear that he could not stay as back-up to Lammens. “The former Barcelona and Ajax keeper still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at Old Trafford, so United may have to pay him off to enable any deal to go through.” Whether INEOS will agree to the proposal remains to be seen. The 20-time English league champions did the right thing by bringing in Senne Lammens, who has proven to be a calming presence between the sticks.
