‘Welcome home’: Man United announce Cristiano Ronaldo return

The news which Manchester United supporters across the globe were waiting for has finally been forthcoming on Friday evening.

‘Welcome home’ This of course comes in the form of the return of one of the greatest players to ever pull on a Red Devils jersey.

The man in question? Cristiano Ronaldo.

After this week making clear his intention to depart Serie A giants Juventus following three years in Turin, it was Manchester City who were initially viewed as widespread favourites to strike a deal for CR7.

A major twist in the saga, however, was forthcoming this afternoon, when neighbours United, out of the blue, surged clear of Pep Guardiola’s men.

And, incredibly, just hours after word was forthcoming that the Reds had joined the hunt for his signature, Ronaldo’s Old Trafford return has been confirmed.

Taking to social media on Friday evening, the Manchester heavyweights posted a simple but altogether effective message, welcoming the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner back ‘home’:

Welcome , @Cristiano #MUFC | #Ronaldo

CR7 details As per transfer expert David Ornstein, Ronaldo is expected to set United back a fee of €15 million, plus a further 8 million in bonuses.

The Portuguese’s arrival will not have a bearing on the future of current Red Devils no.7 Edinson Cavani:
