‘We will put things right’, Manchester United star sends painful message to fans

Manchester United club captain Harry Maguire is under no illusions that the team is going through a ‘tough period’, but he has claimed him and his team mates will ‘put things right’.

The centre back’s comments come after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s latest soul-destroying defeat, which came at the hands of Manchester City at Old Trafford yesterday.

Only two weeks after the embarrassing 5-0 hammering by Liverpool, Manchester United produced another abject display at the Theatre of Dreams, after losing 2-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Following the defeat, Maguire has sent a message to the club’s fans on Instagram this morning, stating that he knows current performances are ‘nowhere near good enough’.

It was yet another pitiful performance from Manchester United and the whole club needs to take the international break, as a time to reflect on the direction we are meant to be heading in.

As things stand, we are miles off the standard set by City, Liverpool and Chelsea, and things will have to drastically change to see us close that gap.

But like Bruno Fernandes said, the players need to look at themselves in the mirror and address their own personal shortcomings.

That includes Harry Maguire who has looked off the pace all season, stemming from a clear hangover from the Euros and playing in games that he’s clearly not fit to play in.

Fresh after the international break, United face three away games in eight days, Watford, Villarreal and Chelsea.

If United have a poor week there, they could find themselves on the brink of a Champions League exit and over 12 points behind Thomas Tuchel’s side.
