“It was a great victory at home, finally. I think this is on the rise and I was happy with us today, “said Jakob Örn Sigurðarson after KR’s victory over Stjarnan in the Dominos League in basketball tonight.
KR won the first half 31 – 13 and the game in total with nine points difference, 100 – 91.
“We started very strong, met well and it was gorgeous energy in us. We got all the loose balls and stuff. It was very good. So naturally they come into play. We were playing against a really good team – experienced people – and they found some solutions to what we were doing when they were “posting”. At the same time, it was very good for us not to lose our heads but to keep steam and manage to finish this in the end, “said Jakob.
The star reduced the difference by 13 points in the third period, down to only three points.
“We knew they would come up with something ‘run’. It happened pretty quickly I thought, right at the beginning of the second half when they immediately got into the game. The fourth period was just even and could go either way. I’m really happy that we found a solution in the end and put down the big shots, “said Jakob who put down four of his seven three-point shots and scored a total 14 points in the game.
KR-ingar, who must be considered a short team, took more rebounds than Stjörnumenn in the first half but ended up with 36 rebounds against 46 Stjarnan’s rebounds. The performance in the first half was what made the difference tonight:
“We are small, we are fighting but of course we give up offensive rebounds. It’s only given when you have a smaller team, and a little bit less team. But we have other options in return. It’s harder to cover us, we are mobile, so we try to work this out in a different way, “said Jakob but KR scored from 14 off 39 his three-point shots tonight.
