Manchester United target Emiliano Martínez is reportedly a transfer target for Galatasaray.
The Red Devils have prioritised the strengthening of their attack at the beginning of the window with the signing of Matheus Cunha.
Ruben Amorim is also keen to add to his squad in other positions and is said to be unconvinced with first choice keeper, Andre Onana.
Therefore, the Red Devils have been linked to younger keepers but there have also been reports of the club targeting older heads like Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
Owing to Villa’s PSR troubles, it is reported that Martinez could be on the market for as little as £30-40 million. What’s more, United are even said to be “leading the race” for the 2022 World Cup winner.
Argentine newspaper BOLAVIP have claimed that the Red Devils will have competition from Turkish champions Galatasaray for the keeper’s signature, though.
It is reported that Villa’s recent financial trouble makes Martinez’s departure “seem increasingly feasible.”
In addition, “Manchester United is the main option for the Argentine goalkeeper, who wants to stay in the Premier League”, which could only strengthen United’s hand in negotiations.
Despite this, BOLAVIP assert that “Galatasaray has contacted Aston Villa for Dibu Martínez” in recent hours.
Whilst their offer of likely trophies and Champions League football is appealing, it is claimed that Martinez has his future clear.
He “intends to continue competing at the highest level, and that means staying in the Premier League. That’s the Argentine goalkeeper’s desire, despite the interest shown by Galatasaray.”
The paper claims that Martinez will reject the Turks and is “still waiting for a call from Manchester United” before the summer window draws to an end.
