‘Villa’s high line could land them in trouble more often than not’

Aston Villa manager Unai EmeryAston Villa fell to a 2-0 defeat at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest broke down their high-line tactic with goals from Ola Aina and Orel Mangala.Former Manchester United striker Dion Dublin has been analysing Unai Emery’s set-up on Match of the Day 2: “Villa’s high line, for me, is absolutely ridiculous. Let’s get it right, they have been brilliant of late, one of the in-form teams and Unai Emery has done great.”However, when you play a high line one yard away from the halfway line, you are going to be in trouble more often than not. They got away with it on two or three occasions against Forest.”For the second goal, even though it was a longer ball [from Forest], Villa still had a high line and what you don’t want to do as a defensive player is be running towards your own goal all the time. You lose your bearings and positional play, and you can come too far back and then you leave space on the edge of the box.”Catch up on Match of the Day 2 on BBC iPlayer
