Ruben Amorim has not had the best of times since his arrival as Manchester United’s new head coach, losing 10 out of 24 games in all competitions.
From falling out with star players to multiple injury issues, the Portuguese has had to deal with a lot and it is clear to see that the scale of the job at hand has definitely caught him off-guard.
Doubts have been thrust regarding his change in formation with multiple pundits claiming that he should tweak his style to accommodate the players at his disposal, something the 40-year-old has steadfastly refused.
The Red Devils are languishing in 14th position in the Premier League while they have already crashed out of both domestic cup competitions.
“Start afresh”
The Europa League now represents the club’s last shot at silverware this season while winning the competition is the only way for United to qualify for the Champions League next term.
Before the all-important Round of 16 first leg tie against Real Sociedad, Amorim was asked about one day he would like to relive again by TNT Sports, and he pointed to his last day at former club Sporting CP and his first day at United.

Interestingly, he then added that his considering his dismal start to life at Old Trafford, he would prefer to rip it all up and start afresh.
“The first day here in Manchester, so start all over again knowing the different things to try and change the course of things!”
Can United do their talking on the pitch?
His recent interviews have not exactly done wonders for the confidence with the tactician claiming the Europa League was not the be-all and end-all for the club this season, even though fans and players would disagree.
During the course of the interview, he also spoke fondly of the United fans and how they have kept supporting him despite what has occurred on the pitch.
“They say one thing to me that is really strange, that is, ‘You are doing a good job!’. That is so hard to understand sometimes, when I listen to them, it’s really important to me.
“The way [the fans] support us, even when we are losing in the bad moments, I think that is the most special thing.”
Hopefully, Amorim and his players can do the actual talking where it matters, out on the pitch against Real Sociedad. The season-defining fixture kicks off at 5.45pm GMT.
