Video: Antony scores must-see screamer for Real Betis, he’s unstoppable right now

Manchester United loanee Antony scored his third goal for Real Betis in their La Liga meeting with Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Antony left United during the January transfer window, bringing the curtain down on a disastrous two-and-a-half-year stint at Old Trafford.

He scored three Premier League goals in his first three games for the Red Devils but bagged just two more in the 59 games that followed – his return across all competitions since the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign a meagre four goals in 52 appearances.

The Brazilian joined Betis in search of regular first-team minutes and to revive his career.

To say he has hit the ground running at Spain would be an understatement. He scored a first top-flight goal against Celta Vigo last weekend and found the back of the net once again during Thursday’s 3-0 Europa Conference League victory over Gent.

Now, Antony has scored his third for Betis.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men hosted Sociedad at Estadio Benito Villamarin as they sought to get back to winning ways in the league.

The first half ended goalless, as both teams struggled to break through each other’s defence. However, Antony broke the deadlock just six minutes after the restart.

Isco delivered a precise cross into the box, finding a teammate who nodded it into the danger area. Sociedad’s weak clearance fell perfectly for the lurking Antony.

The winger displayed excellent skill to connect with the ball, unleashing a powerful left-footed strike that left Álex Remiro helpless.

Antony came close to doubling his tally moments later, but his shot drifted just wide of the target.

The 24-year-old has now registered three goals and an assist in the four appearances he has made for Betis across all competitions.

Antony’s teammate, Marc Roca, went on to strike twice in the span of five minutes to seal all three points against Sociedad.
