Victor Lindelof’s Exit Nears As Fenerbahce Express Interest

Victor Lindelof may soon leave Manchester United, as Fenerbahce is keen on signing him. This move fits with Manchester United’s aim to get cash for new players by selling some of their current players.

Last year, they had a hard time selling players like Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, and Donny van de Beek and as a result they were loaned out because no one would buy them.

This time, things look better for Manchester United. Greenwood, after a great loan time at Getafe where he won Player of the Year, now has Lazio keen on signing him.

Sancho, key in taking Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final, is eyed by Juventus, making a move more likely.

Lindelof, with just a year left on his deal, catches the eye of clubs like Fenerbahce, given his lower value.

Manchester United are open to selling Lindelof, and Fenerbahce, who previously signed Fred from United, are keen on the Swedish defender.

Adding to this interest is the presence of Jose Mourinho as Fenerbahce’s manager.

Mourinho, who originally brought Lindelof to Old Trafford for £30 million from Benfica in 2017, is now pushing for a reunion with the defender in Istanbul.

According to reports, Manchester United are preparing to trigger the £34 million release clause for Josua Zirkzee from Bologna, while also negotiating with Fenerbahce for Lindelof.

Turkish football reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu confirmed on his social media that official talks have begun between Fenerbahce and Lindelof.

The exact fee Manchester United will demand for Lindelof remains uncertain. Fenerbahce secured Fred for £13 million and hope to sign Lindelof for around £7 million, though United might hold out for a higher amount.

Regardless of the final transfer fee, Lindelof’s exit would relieve United of his £120,000-a-week wages, following the departures of high earners like Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial.

Despite being a reliable squad member under Erik ten Hag, Lindelof faces an uncertain future at Manchester United.

He played a key role in the FA Cup semi-final and filled in at left-back during an injury crisis last season.

However, with United pursuing Jarrad Branthwaite and another center-back, Lindelof’s playing time could diminish next season.

Manchester United are hopeful of finalizing a deal for Branthwaite from Everton.

However, a change in UEFA rules has complicated their plans to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, a club owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos, preventing a move to United despite other Premier League clubs being eligible.

As discussions progress, it appears increasingly likely that Lindelof will join Fenerbahce, reuniting with Mourinho and helping Manchester United free up funds and wages for their ongoing squad rebuild.
