United’s transfer plans in jeopardy as rival PL club launches move to snap up perfect target at knockdown fee – report

Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing a bold swoop to beat Manchester United to the signature of Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck.

United could bolster their defensive department

United are currently in the middle of overhauling their squad after a poor 2024/25 campaign and they could address their backline options as part of this plan.

Jonny Evans confirmed his retirement at the end of the season, while Victor Lindelof left upon the expiry of his contract.

There is also the fact that Lisandro Martinez will need to be slowly reeled back into action after a lengthy period on the sidelines with an ACL injury, which makes United’s need for a central defender even more urgent.

Ruben Amorim’s system is built around a three-man defence, and United will be keen to ensure he has sufficient depth at the back to make it work.

This is where Bisseck comes in.

Bisseck on United’s list

Bisseck has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Inter since joining the club in the summer of 2023 from Danish side Aarhus Gymnastikforening.

He grew to become a key member of the squad under Simone Inzaghi. Bisseck made 46 appearances across all competitions last term. He helped Inter keep 21 clean sheets while also scoring three goals in the process, all of which came in Serie A.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United were seriously considering a move for Bisseck. There were even rumours of a swap deal involving misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Last month, it was claimed that United could snap up Bisseck for €60m to €70m, which was mentioned as the value of his release clause.

However, it has now emerged that Palace are preparing to bid for him and believe he could be obtained for a significantly lower fee.

Palace to make move for Bisseck

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Palace have “moved to the front of the line” for Bisseck. The South London outfit “have settled their sights” on the 24-year-old and are prepared to go a step further compared to other clubs and lodge an official bid.

Palace are ready to present Inter with a proposal that slightly eclipses the €30m mark.

CDS add, “While Bisseck is not officially for sale, the club is open to discussions if an offer aligns with their valuation, especially if, as it seems, Crystal Palace are willing to put at least €32 million on the table.”

“For Inter, who paid just €7 million for Bisseck in 2023 after scouting him at Aarhus in Denmark, this represents a massive potential capital gain.”

The Nerazzuri would use this money to reinvest in other areas of the squad as they eye the signing of a midfielder and Genoa defender Koni De Winter.

If Inter are open to agreeing a €32m deal with Palace for Bisseck, then it’s a move United should seriously consider pursuing as well.
