United’s quest to land Brazilian genius could end this Academy magician’s Old Trafford career – report

Manchester United’s quest to add a proven goalscorer to their ranks seems to have taken them to Wolverhampton Wanderers with Ruben Amorim a keen admirer of Matheus Cunha.

The Red Devils are in talks to land the Brazilian who has twice the number of goals scored by Rasmus Hojlund while he can play in multiple positions across the frontline.

Amorim has plans to add a ruthless centre-forward as well, most likely either of Victor Osimhen or Liam Delap with Cunha expected to play as one of the attacking midfielders.

With Bruno Fernandes expected to return to his preferred post, the Wolves talisman’s arrival could signal the end of Alejandro Garnacho’s United career as per Givemesport.

Garnacho’s form has dipped

The Argentine has been operating as one of the No 10s currently but this change in style has meant his output has decreased dramatically.

Under Erik ten Hag, the 20-year-old had registered five goals and three assists from 14 games while under the current head coach, the Argentina international has a mere three goals and five assists from 33 games.

The Portuguese tactician wants more from his attacking midfielders and INEOS are open to Garnacho’s summer departure as his sale represents pure profit owing to his homegrown status.

“Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho is not interested in remaining at Old Trafford if he falls down the pecking order and is increasingly likely to seek a summer departure should Matheus Cunha complete a switch from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Cunha’s arrival could end Garnacho’s United career

“Garnacho has come to terms with the fact that Cunha is poised to take one of the No.10 roles if he arrives at Manchester United from Wolves in the coming months, GMS sources have learned, and that would convince him to attempt to take his career in a different direction as soon as possible.”

Napoli and Juventus are among the teams interested in the Carrington graduate while Chelsea are also lurking in the background.

Amorim had fought with the co-owners to keep Garnacho in January but his drop-off in form means the head coach might no longer be in his corner.

The versatile attacker needs to end the season strong if he wants to stay at Old Trafford with his current deal valid until 2028.
