United’s chase for PL star has rivals dreading a missed chance, with Ineos closing in on £54m deal – report

Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, is determined to assemble one of the Premier League’s most formidable attacking units.

A lack of reliable goalscorers has hindered the Portuguese tactician’s project at Old Trafford.

Strikers Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to find their best goal-scoring form, leaving United needing serious reinforcement up front.

Upgrading the striking options and bringing in additional forwards with a keen eye for goal is essential.

One such forward United are reportedly targeting is Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

The Peoples Person recently ran a piece revealing that United had made a formal offer for the Cameroonian international.

According to the report, United have submitted a bid in the region of €65 million (£54.6m) for the 25-year-old.

While it remains unclear whether such an offer would be enough to convince Brentford to part ways with their star man, a fresh revelation suggests it could be.

United considered favourites in Mbeumo chase

In an interesting development regarding Mbeumo’s potential departure, Chronicle Live suggests that United may hold the upper hand in securing his signature.

Like United, Newcastle have long admired Brentford’s number 19; however, they fear they may struggle to finalise that swoop.

Newcastle’s hopes of landing the Brentford forward are reportedly being challenged by United, who appear to be moving quickly in an attempt to seal the deal first.

According to the report, a £54 million bid could be enough to complete the transfer.

If true, and given United’s reported offer of a similar amount, the transfer race may well be over before it truly begins.

Even so, the big question remains: have United submitted a bid for Bryan Mbeumo? The answer should become clear soon.

With Mbeumo enjoying his finest Premier League campaign, boasting 19 goals and seven assists, he could be the upgrade United’s blunt attack desperately needs.

His arrival at Old Trafford would bring Ruben Amorim one step closer to unveiling one of the Premier League’s most lethal attacking forces.
