Manchester United Women could be set to lose a crucial part of their squad.

Frustrating window

The Red Devils have brought in Julia Zigiotti Olme and Fridolina Rolfo to bolster their line up ahead of a crucial season.

Nonetheless, talks have stalled for Germany forward Giovanna Hoffmann after a deal looked close.

With only a matter days left of the window, United fans feel that the team needs further additions to compete in the Champions League and Women’s Super League.

Grace Clinton concern

United’s Clinton was a breakout star last season, scoring nine goals from 28 appearances.

Her strong performances saw her called up to England’s Euro 2025 squad that would go on to win the whole tournament earlier this summer.

Unfortunately, United could be on the verge of weakening themselves just days before the window closes.

Manchester City threat

The Times report that “Manchester City are interested in signing Grace Clinton, the England midfielder, from Manchester United.”

The report adds that “Clinton’s contract with United expires next summer, but it is understood City are eager to secure a deal before the transfer window closes on September 4th.”

The move would be a “huge coup” for City and a “bitter blow” for United as Clinton is generally seen as one of the brightest young talents in England.

Her deal is due to expire next summer and there has been no progress on a new contract as of yet.

Ratcliffe commitment

United’s owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been criticised in the past for a lack of commitment to the Women’s team with the departures of Katie Zelem and Mary Earps last season.

What’s more, he gave an interview last year stating that the women’s team was not his top priority.

The Times also add to this by reporting “losing Clinton to their Manchester rivals would reignite questions over United’s commitment to their women’s team under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.”
