United Women skipper led by example to scoop the final Player of the Month award

Manchester United Women captain Maya Le Tissier scooped the final Player of the Month award.

Le Tissier was named the skipper of Marc Skinner’s side last pre-season after the departure of Katie Zelem.

The 23 year old has become a key player this season for club and country, making 95 appearances since joining from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022.

The United star made such an impression this season that she was nominated for the league’s Player of the Season award but lost out to Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey.

Her fine form also saw her inclusion in the Barclays Women’s Super League Team of the Season, alongside teammates Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Grace Clinton.

The skipper has now received another award as she was named the team’s best player in the final month of the season according to the club’s official website.

She doesn’t miss a minute.

She played in all three matches in May and beat competition from Leah Galton, Hinata Miyazawa and Grace Clinton.

Le Tissier started in crucial league fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

United secured Champions League football with a 2-2 draw against City at Old Trafford.

The captain scored a penalty in the 3-4 defeat to European champions Arsenal and lost out in the cup final 0-3 to Chelsea.

Le Tissier also played a key role in United Women’s participation in the World Sevens tournament in Estoril, where they reached the final.

She has also made an impression off the pitch, recently being awarded the club’s PFA Community Champion award alongside Amad.
