United “willing” to meet release clause for red-hot star who will 95% leave this summer – report

Manchester United striking target Victor Osimhen is 95% likely to leave SSC Napoli on a permanent transfer this season.

United have struggled massively for goals this year as they have only scored 30 in 26 Premier League matches.

Both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have struggled to find the back of the net and despite a huge financial outlay on both players, United still desperately lack a reliable goalscorer.

Therefore, one of the most important signings the club can make this summer is an experienced goalscorer and for that reason, they have been heavily linked to Osimhen.

According to NapoliMagazine (via TEAMTALK), the striker is almost guaranteed to depart Italy this summer as he is “95 percent likely to be sold in a permanent deal.”

He has spent this season on loan at Galatasaray but it is not thought to be a serious option that he stays in Turkiye.

United are reportedly “ready” to pay his £62.1 million release clause in the summer but there are three major obstacles for the Red Devils to overcome.

The first is the wages that the striker is likely to ask for. Ineos have made it clear that United do not have oceans of cash to play with and would need Osimhen to lower his weekly wage demands of £200,000, which he has previously been reluctant to do.

Furthermore, United would have much work to do to convince the forward that they are on the right path.

The club currently sit 15th in the table and only a Europa League win would help them secure Champions League football for next season.

“Osimhen is known to favour joining a club who can compete for top honours and play regularly in the Champions League.”

Finally, United are not the only club willing to match the Napoli star’s release clause, as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also both keen to do the same.

Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
