United transfer target declares that he feels “disappointed” with Amorim, putting deal at risk

Manchester United transfer target Morten Hjulmand revealed his disappointment in his former manager, Ruben Amorim, when he departed Sporting CP midway through the season.

In an interview with RTP published by A Bola, Hjulmand admitted: “We thought that Amorim would stay for the season and fight to also be a two-time champion. Many players wanted to stay at Sporting with Ruben Amorim, because he is a great coach.”

Although he rejected the idea of Sporting players feeling betrayed by Amorim, Hjulmand made it clear that he and his teammates were far from satisfied with the Portuguese manager’s decision.

“We feel disappointed with his departure. We were on a run of 11 consecutive wins, doing very well in the Champions League. Everything was very clear to everyone on the pitch. It was almost as if we were playing PlayStation,” the Danish midfielder reflected.

“Everyone knew what they had to do. I told him in front of the other players that we were disappointed with his departure. We were counting on him to fight for the second title,” Hjulmand revealed. “He himself said the same thing at the start of the season. But then I also told Ruben that we understood his decision.”

Sadly, Amorim’s decision to join United has yet to be proven to be the correct career move, given the horrid season endured by the Old Trafford faithful.

Yesterday, The Peoples Person relayed that the United squad are deeply divided over Amorim following the UEFA Europa League final defeat on Wednesday night.

According to the report, some players feel that Amorim is overconfident, refusing to change his system when the players don’t seem suited to it.

United legends have also been vocal about the manager’s recent decisions, with Rio Ferdinand calling out Amorim’s bizarre decision to only make substitutions late in the game.

He also spoke of United’s lack of attacking threat, going so far as to say that they deserved to lose after only truly challenging the goalkeeper once.

Hjulmand has emerged as a potential transfer target in recent weeks, with the club seemingly relying on his relationship with Amorim to get a deal over the line.

Given his latest revelations, however, it remains to be seen whether Hjulmand will be in a forgiving mood should Amorim come knocking once the transfer window opens.
