United told to bid €80m to agree deal for 21-yo midfield prodigy tipped to become “next Toni Kroos” – report

Manchester United veteran Casemiro remains Ruben Amorim’s preferred choice to partner Bruno Fernandes in midfield despite his ageing legs.

During the international break, Casemiro captained Brazil in two full matches against South Korea and Japan in Asia.

Despite the physical and travel exertions, Amorim started the ageing midfielder against Liverpool.

Man United need to replace Casemiro

The 33-year-old didn’t disappoint at Anfield, helping United secure a convincing 2-1 win last weekend. Casemiro’s ability to read play, intervene and quickly pass into the final third is invaluable.

United don’t have another midfielder who checks all these boxes. With the ex-Real Madrid man expected to depart Old Trafford next summer upon the expiration of his contract, the Red Devils are thought to be exploring the market for his replacement.

Manuel Ugarte lacks composure with the ball at his feet and Amorim has previously raised question marks over Kobbie Mainoo’s defensive acumen. The Englishman is still waiting for his first Premier League start of the season.

Bayern gem on United’s shortlist

According to CaughtOffside, United see Aleksandar Pavlovic as “one option to replace Casemiro.”

The 6ft 1in midfielder’s ability to cover the pitch, intensity in duels and technical ability to play between the lines have earned him plenty of plaudits and comparisons to Toni Kroos.

However, the 21-year-old is yet to nail down a starting spot in the middle of the park, as Bayern have a number of elite midfielders at their disposal.

This has reportedly United “keeping tabs” on Pavlovic’s situation in case he decides to leave the Bundesliga giants in favour of a more important role.

However, the Germany international’s contract at Bayern runs until the summer of 2029, making any deal exceedingly complicated.

It is claimed the Bavarians would want as much as €80m to sanction Pavlovic’s exit.

United reportedly also continue to monitor long-term targets Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton.
