United to take on fierce rivals Liverpool for 23yo French dribbling sensation, Monaco keen to sell to a foreign club – report

Manchester United seem intent on securing two attacking midfielders to support their new striker heading into the 2025/26 season.

This effectively means Matheus Cunha is not going to be the only arrival with all signs currently pointing towards a possible deal for Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.

Newcastle are also keen on the Bees ace, and the Red Devils want to keep backup options ready in case they falter, like with the Liam Delap deal.

CaughtOffside have claimed the Old Trafford side have their eyes on Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche with the Ligue 1 side hoping to earn between €60-70 million from his sale.

United vs Liverpool for Maghnes Akliouche

United’s fierce rivals Liverpool also have their eyes on the French sensation while Paris Saint-Germain also hold a keen interest in the 23-year-old.

But Monaco would very much prefer to sell to a foreign club instead of strengthening a direct rival while the playmaker himself is keen on a move to the Premier League.

“Liverpool are one of the main suitors for Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche as he attracts transfer suitors this summer.

“Sources with a close understanding of the player’s situation have informed CaughtOffside that Akliouche could leave Monaco for a fee in the region of €60-70m.

“The Reds are also joined by the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Tottenham in tracking Akliouche.

Monaco would prefer to sell to a Premier League club

“CaughtOffside understands that Paris Saint-Germain have also tracked Akliouche, as they do with most top young players in France, though Monaco would understandably prefer to sell him abroad.”

Maghnes Akliouche managed seven goals and 12 assists in the season gone by, which shows his creativity and has even been termed a “dribbling sensation“.

Monaco’s sporting director has already confirmed that the player will not be staying at the Stade Louis II but Liverpool currently have a wide array of playmakers and it makes very little sense for the player to play second fiddle at this stage of his career.

A move to The Theatre of Dreams would make for the perfect next step in his evolution but whether INEOS can cough up the required funds remains to be seen.
