Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly open to slashing his salary demands and even wait until the final stages of the summer transfer window to complete a dream move to Barcelona.
Rashford is not believed to have a future at United under Ruben Amorim and he is available for sale. The two fell out soon after Amorim’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s replacement, leading to Rashford being exiled from the team.
The England international was then loaned out to Aston Villa in January, where he spent the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.
At Villa, Rashford rediscovered his form. Villa have the option to sign him permanently for £40million but it appears they have decided to prioritise other parts of their squad.
Rashford remains on the radar of several clubs, with the strongest whispers pointing toward a potential move to Barcelona.
The Blaugrana were Rashford’s preferred transfer destination in January but a switch could not materialise because of the Spanish club’s financial troubles.
Now, Barcelona are actively searching for attacking reinforcements, with Rashford and Liverpool’s Luis Díaz emerging as their leading targets.
A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Barca sporting director Deco held talks with Rashford’s camp regarding a transfer. Barca boss Hansi Flick is also thought to be an admirer of Rashford and would be keen on adding him to his ranks at Camp Nou.
According to Marca, Rashford is so eager to join forces with the likes of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha that he’s reportedly “making things easier” for Barcelona to complete a deal.
Marca state about Rashford, “He will make things easier. One of them is the possibility of taking a considerable salary cut to accommodate Barcelona’s financial situation. He already wanted to do that six months ago, and now he’s sticking with it. Barca know this.”
“One last point in the club’s favour, and not insignificant, is that he is willing to wait for Barcelona until the end of the transfer window. In January, he also waited for Barça until the last minute, but the FFP rules made a loan move impossible.”
It’s understood Barca are reluctant to meet United’s £40million price tag for Rashford and as such, they could find ways to “put pressure” on the Red Devils to lower their valuation.
