Casemiro has reportedly agreed to leave Manchester United in January with Saudi Arabia looking to be his most likely destination.
The Brazilian was brilliant in his first season at Old Trafford after arriving from Real Madrid in 2022.
Things have gone extremely pear-shaped since then as he has proven time and time again he is no longer up to the rigours of Premier League football.
The Brazilian has rarely been used since Ruben Amorim became coach but was given a chance last night with suspensions to Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes.
The result was a disaster class of a showing where he was completely overwhelmed alongside Christian Eriksen by a rampant Newcastle United midfield.
There have been significant rumours that United want to sell the player to free up wage space and the Brazilian press report that Casemiro may have finally accepted his fate.
According to UOLEsporte, “the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Fund is determined to move forward with the signing of Casemiro now in the January transfer window.”
“The interest is not new, but the player’s status at Manchester United favours accelerating the process.”
Due to the lack of first team action the 32 year old is experiencing at the moment, he “welcomes a transfer to Saudi football at the start of 2025. There would therefore be no major obstacles to his departure.”
“At this time, the Fund has not yet decided which club to send the Brazilian star to, because it is waiting to confirm the number of foreigners in the squads of Al-Hilal and Al Nassr” but his name is “highly regarded” throughout the league.
Al Nassr in particular could be seen as a realistic destination due to his successful relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo from their trophy-laden days with Real Madrid.
A departure from United in January would do wonders for their PSR situation and could help add valuable wiggle room to their finances to assist in signing a much needed player or two in the winter market.
