United star on verge of completing Old Trafford exit as timeline for medical at new club is set – report

A date has been set for Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho to have his medical at Chelsea as he looks to complete a transfer to the London outfit.

United and Chelsea strike deal for Garnacho

On Thursday evening, news broke that United and Chelsea had reached a full agreement over a deal for Garnacho.

The two clubs had been in talks for weeks as they tried to arrive at an arrangement that would work for all parties. Chelsea valued the Argentina international at a significantly lower fee than United did.

It’s believed that the Blues tabled an initial bid worth £25m but this was turned down by United, who held out for a bigger fee for their academy graduate.

United are set to pocket a fixed fee of £40m from Garnacho’s departure, while also securing a 10% sell-on clause that could see them benefit handsomely from any future transfer.

Garnacho will sign a seven-year contract with Enzo Maresca’s side. Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Garnacho will have his Chelsea medical today.

Garnacho scored 26 goals and registered 22 assists in 144 appearances for United. This tally includes the 16 goals and 10 assists he notched in 93 Premier League appearances.

He came through the ranks at Carrington as a promising talent, going on to make his senior debut in April 2022, when he came on during a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Garnacho could face United as early as next month, when Ruben Amorim’s side welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford for a Premier League clash.

Meanwhile, United are back in action on Saturday when they host Burnley. Kick-off is at 15:00 BST.
