Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui was involved in a lovely interaction with a Muslim journalist after the club’s match on Sunday.

United’s Moroccan defender is a devout Muslim, who has regularly spoken about his faith during his career.

Commenting on the importance of religion in his life while at his previous club Bayern Munich he stated, “I have my religion. That’s number one in my life… [praying] helps me a lot to deal with things that don’t go my way, or things that turn out in my favour. This way of thinking helps me to go through life.”

The 27 year old recently met with the Manchester United Muslim Supporters’ Club at Old Trafford where he shared a message of “never lose sight of your dreams.”

The meeting came ahead of Ramadan which is one of the biggest moments in the Muslim faith’s calendar.

The period of daytime fasting began on the 28th February and it will end on the 30th March.

The Daily Mail report that after the game, where Mazraoui was allowed to have a drinks break to break his fast during the match versus Fulham, he met with a fellow Muslim journalist.

“One reporter, Aadam Haladh, waited patiently to see the Moroccan after the game to give him a tin of Medjoul dates as a gift for Ramadan.”

The United security staff allowed the reporter the opportunity to wait at the players’ entrance so that he definitely had the chance to come into contact with Mazraoui.

Speaking to the Mail on the moment the reporter said, “the United security staff outside the players’ entrance were kind enough to allow me to wait in front of the barriers after showing them my pass.”

“Mazraoui and I exchanged greetings in Arabic, wishing each other peace and blessings and Ramadan Mubarak.”

“I gave him the tin of dates telling him it was a gift from me, which he accepted and politely responded by saying ‘for you, my shirt’, giving me both of his match worn shirts.”

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
