United star credits surprise factor for club’s stunning turnaround under Amorim

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has revealed that a surprising factor has been central to the club’s upturn in form during the last two months. United improving After a patchy start to the season, United now appear to be on the right track under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have lost just one of their last nine Premier League games. Their most recent result, a 4-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, catapulted them to sixth position in the Premier League and just one point adrift of fourth. The improved performances are fuelling a sense of hope. Following an extremely poor start to Ruben Amorim’s tenure, there is growing belief that the future will bring far more positive fortunes for the club. Dorgu has featured prominently for United this term. The January signing has made 14 top-flight appearances. He has contributed just one assist in that period. He spoke to club media and noted that United are playing more like a team, crediting this development for the club’s resurgence. Dorgu makes point Asked what has changed from last season, Dorgu answered, “I think we play more as a team now. We try to get everyone involved and we just need to keep going and hopefully do well. We’re still in a good position in the league.” On whether the biggest improvement has been on or off the pitch, Dorgu remarked, “I think it’s both. We’re more together this season than when I came in the beginning.” “The pre-season was good too, to integrate everybody and bond the team and obviously the few results we had before the international break helped us as well to get that team spirit in. I think we bonded well off the pitch too, so that’s good.” He explained about the step-up from Lecce to United, “It’s been good. I have my own place and my family come and visit me a lot.” “It’s nice, it’s chilled and a good place to live. I like to eat, to chill and play video games with my friends. I watch Netflix and YouTube, whatever.” “I’ve learned a lot and I think I’ve adapted to the league well, so I’m happy with the first year.” United are next in action on Monday, December 15, when they host Bournemouth.
