United set to make shock bid for 22-yo England star in their intense search for new number 10 – report

Manchester United are interested in signing Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, as per reports.

United seem to be prioritising adding a new number 10 to their ranks this summer, as Bruno Fernandes is currently the only midfielder capable of consistently creating chances for the side’s forwards.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils are considering a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha to play behind the striker.

Now, a report in Spain suggests United have set their sights on another in-form Premier League playmaker.

Manchester United want Morgan Rogers

According to Fichajes, Ruben Amorim has identified Rogers as a “key reinforcement for his project.”

As such, United are willing to do “everything possible” to secure the 22-year-old’s services.

Signed from Middlesbrough in 2024, Rogers has enjoyed a sensational season under Unai Emery, having scored 14 goals and registered 12 assists in all competitions.

The England international, who is capable of playing all across the frontline and in midfield, is known for his ability to carry the ball higher up the field. His aggressive and direct style of play could breathe new life into the United attack.

The Spanish outlet claim United have “launched a significant €80 million bid” (£69.48m) in their attempts to sign him during the summer transfer window.

However, Villa have no interest in letting Rogers depart Birmingham and have previously turned down an offer from Manchester City, who tried to bring back the player they sold in 2023.

The versatile talent is considered an “untouchable” asset under Emery. He most recently underlined his importance by scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Villa are keen on retaining Marcus Rashford’s services. They have an option to sign the United loanee permanently for £40m, but with PSG also showing interest, the Lions face a tough challenge heading into the summer.
