United rocked by eye-watering demand for explosive attacker turning the PL into his playground – report

Bournemouth have slapped a £70 million price tag on reported Manchester United target Antoine Semenyo, according to The i Paper.

United are expected to dip into the market this summer in search of attacking reinforcements. Since his arrival as Erik ten Hag’s replacement in November, Ruben Amorim has struggled to get the current crop of players acclimated to his preferred 3-4-3 system.

There is an acceptance both within and outside the club that Amorim is in desperate need of more quality options, especially in the forward positions.

In addition to securing the services of a striker, United have been tipped to bring in a right-sided forward. Some of the players the Red Devils continue to be linked to include Francisco Trincao (Sporting CP), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) and of course, Brentford’s Semenyo.

A report covered by The Peoples Person a week ago claimed that talks between United and Brentford over a summer deal for Semenyo are already underway.

It was stated that the 25-year-old is a “priority” signing for Amorim’s side.

In addition to operating on the right of that attack, Semenyo can also play as a striker, making him an even more attractive option.

The Ghana international has been a crucial part of Bournemouth’s charge for European football this term, contributing a career-high seven goals and four assists in 28 Premier League appearances. He has managed 14 goal contributions across all competitions.

It was suggested that United wanted to pay €40m (£33) for Semenyo but now, it has emerged that the Cherries want significantly more.

The i Paper reveal that Bournemouth are set to demand £70m, with Newcastle also interested in the player.

Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Semenyo and last year, he admitted to being a supporter of the North London outfit.

Antoine Semenyo scored his first goal for Ghana a few days ago as they beat Chad 5-0 at Accra Sports Stadium.

It remains to be seen whether United will meet Bournemouth’s valuation or instead attempt to negotiate or explore other alternatives.
