United “reignite” their interest in world-class Brazilian maestro, available for just £30m – report

Following Christian Eriksen’s departure, Manchester United need midfield depth, especially given the uncertainty surrounding a couple of other first-team regulars.

Even though Casemiro impressed Ruben Amorim, his wages are a concern for INEOS, and with no European football next season, the head coach is open to the Brazilian’s departure.

Kobbie Mainoo is also yet to agree a new deal, while the ex-Sporting CP boss has doubts about whether the Englishman possesses the requisite fitness levels to develop in his system. This explains why he has yet to nail down a fixed position under the head coach.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, the Red Devils do not have the funds to go all-out to sign a big-name star this window, and are eyeing a cost-effective signing, and a loan would suit them perfectly.

Douglas Luiz back on the radar

Interestingly, Givemesport have now claimed the 20-time English league champions are considering jumping back in for Douglas Luiz of Juventus.

The Bianconeri are ready to cut their losses on the Brazilian, and are open to sanctioning his sale for £30 million after having signed him for £42 million last summer.

“Manchester United could be tempted to reignite their interest in luring Douglas Luiz to Old Trafford as Juventus have given indications that they are prepared to sanction his departure when the transfer window reopens for business next week, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

“The Serie A heavyweights are prepared to entertain offers as low as £30million as they are keen to get him off their books and use the funds to bolster their squad.”

It was nothing short of a disaster season for the 26-year-old as he managed a meagre six starts in all competitions, completing 90 minutes only four times.

He was linked with a January switch as well, but now could be the perfect time for United to act as Juventus have no place for him in their future plans.

A loan could also be on the cards

In fact, the report also mentions that even a loan deal could be agreed, something INEOS might study later on if they fail to land any of their top targets.

“GMS sources have been informed that Juventus have not made a final decision on whether they are ready to sanction a loan deal for Luiz but they are open to selling him to Manchester United or another admirer for a cut-price fee.”

It will not be a straightforward deal for the Old Trafford side for the “world-class” midfielder, with former outfit Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest also interested.

Douglas Luiz can play all across the midfield, and is Premier League-proven, which suits INEOS’ requirements. Not too long ago, he was touted as a €100 million player with Manchester City interested.

Just one season ago, he netted 10 goals and registered as many assists in his final season in England before his ill-fated Italian adventure.
