United “ready to move” for electric 24-yo winger who has lit up Serie A this season – report

Manchester United are once again “ready to move” for Bologna winger Dan Ndoye after an approach to sign the Swiss international was rebuffed last summer, according to a report.

Italian outlet Tutto Sport (as relayed by Sports Witness) reveals the Red Devils have been scouting Ndoye “for quite some time” with Bologna rejecting United’s advances during the European Championship in Germany last year.

The report states, “[United] tried to sign the wide player during Euro 2024 but were met with a stiff response from Bologna, who knocked back any attempts that were made for their player.”

Ndoye has been in fine form for Bologna this season, returning eight goals and four assists in Serie A.

But, most notably, the 24-year-old winger scored the winning goal in the Coppa Italia final against AC Milan to end I Rossoblù’s 51-year drought without a trophy.

As such, the Swiss international’s stock has never been higher and despite previous reports suggesting £25 million would be sufficient to bring Bologna to the negotiating table, Tutto Sport now contends it will cost £34 million to prise him away.

“Things can change in the summer and Juventus can take advantage of their good relationship with Bologna. Manchester United also still have a chance and are ready to move. They will have to shell out a fee of €40m to seal the deal in the summer.

“Bologna are not against selling their best players for sizeable fees and this can work in the Red Devils’ favour.”

The report reveals Juventus’ interest but also contends Premier League rival Chelsea have emerged as a “potential suitor” as the Blues continue their ambition to sign every winger in European football.

Serie A leaders Napoli are also reported to have made a bid to sign Ndoye in the January transfer window, having registered interest in United winger Alejandro Garnacho – a player who may still be available at Old Trafford this summer.

The 24-year-old’s contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara runs until 2027 but Bologna retain the option to automatically extend this by 12 months.

This reduces the pressure on the Italian club to risk losing their prized asset and ensures they should be able to command the full £34 million fee they are demanding this summer.
