United ready to cut their losses, have no intention of saddling themselves with £70m flop’s wages for another year – report

INEOS’ primary task during the summer window was not only getting their incomings spot on but also getting rid of deadwood Manchester United have, for far too long, been saddled with mercenaries and lacklustre stars, and a bunch of them were rounded into a bomb squad. Almost all of them earned temporary or permanent moves away from Old Trafford including Jadon Sancho, who left to join Aston Villa on loan. The Red Devils tried to offload him permanently as part of a swap deal which would have seen Emiliano Martinez land up at Old Trafford, but the Englishman refused to join Villa permanently. Disastrous loan spell Unai Emery had hoped to transform the ex-Manchester City academy graduate’s fortunes on the pitch, but it has been nothing short of disastrous. The 25-year-old has managed a grand total of two starts in all competitions, with none of them coming in the Premier League. Not only that but against City, the United loanee was brought on as a sub and subsequently taken off after 45 minutes. It is clear that Villa are unlikely to push for his permanent inclusion at this rate, and could even end his loan soon. The England international’s current deal at Old Trafford lasts until next summer, with the 20-time English league champions having the option of triggering a one-year extension. In that way, they could possibly earn a small transfer fee should any team take a chance on the former Borussia Dortmund attacker. But as per Talksport, INEOS have given up hope of earning any fee, and have no intention of triggering the extension and paying the inconsistent star his wages for one more year.
