Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement for Turkish side Trabzonspor to sign Andre Onana on loan – but a final decision on the deal will be left up to the 29-year-old goalkeeper, Fabrizio Romano reveals.
A deal is in place
Trabzonspor, currently second in the Super Lig behind Galatasaray, have been on the hunt for a new number one after selling Turkey international Ugurcan Cakır last week.
The Black Sea Storm were linked with a move for Onana, who has fallen firmly down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with United believed to have made clear the Cameroonian is available in negotiations.
A report relayed by The Peoples Person earlier today revealed Trabzonspor had subsequently improved their offer this weekend.
And Romano’s update indicates this was a successful bid as United have reached a “verbal agreement” with their Turkish counterparts for Onana to join on loan.

Onana’s decision will be final
Despite the “club to club” agreement, the “final decision” over the move will be left up to Onana, Romano reveals.
This means it’s possible the former Inter Milan star will choose to remain at Old Trafford, as has been his intention for the entire summer.
But Ruben Amorim has relegated Onana to the bench for the start of the new campaign, instead preferring Altay Bayindir in goal, despite the Turkey international’s own struggles between the sticks.
The arrival of Royal Antwerp hotshot Senne Lammens on deadline day has further complicated matters with four senior goalkeepers now on the books at the Theatre of Dreams, including veteran Tom Heaton.
Onana will, like most international players, have one eye on the African Cup of Nations this winter and the World Cup next summer in the United States.
The prospect of spending the majority of the campaign on the bench, or even the stands, at Old Trafford may be sufficient motivation for the 29-year-old to choose a temporary exit in favour of guaranteed first-team minutes.
The Turkish transfer window closes on Friday – September 12 – giving Onana less than a week to reach his final decision on where he will spend the rest of the season.
