United ramping up interest in Brazilian superstar with PL side planning counter-offensive of their own – report

Manchester United were beaten 1-2 by the 10 men of Newcastle at St.James’ Park on Wednesday. It was the Red Devils’ first defeat under Michael Carrick, and they deserved it for their lacklustre second-half performance. Bryan Mbeumo was a ghost out wide, while the midfield lacked any real energy despite the man advantage. Which is why INEOS are keen to recruit multiple midfielders in the summer, and the list includes two Newcastle stars as well. Bruno Guimaraes, the perfect fit for United One of them, Bruno Guimaraes, has been recommended to the co-owners by Casemiro himself as his successor with the former Real Madrid superstar set to leave at the end of the season. However, the Magpies are desperate not to lose the 28-year-old and according to Teamtalk, they are planning to open talks over a new and improved deal in a bid to ward off interest from the 20-time English league champions. The report also mentions that the Brazilian is happy on Tyneside, and is not looking to jump ship as things stand. “Bruno Guimaraes remains one of the most coveted midfielders in world football, with Newcastle United’s captain continuing to draw admiring glances from Europe’s elite clubs, with Manchester United threatening to lure him away. Contract update “Contracted until 2028, the Magpies are actively pursuing a new deal to secure his long-term future amid persistent interest. In a big development, however, we understand Man Utd have emerged as the most prominent suitors in recent days. “United’s interest is intensified by their need to bolster the midfield, though any move would likely require meeting Newcastle’s valuation – potentially close to £100million – for a fellow Premier League side. “Despite the attention, Guimaraes does appear settled on Tyneside. He is not actively pushing for an exit and remains focused on Newcastle’s project, even as the club eyes further investment to challenge at the top. Newcastle’s hierarchy view him as indispensable, and contract discussions aim to fend off rivals.” How United can land Bruno Guimaraes revealed A minimum of £100 million will be needed, whether INEOS can offer such a sum amid the growing need to strengthen out wide and at the back remains to be seen. One thing that can possibly bring the former Olympique Lyonnais star’s price down is Newcastle’s inability to qualify for the Champions League. In that case, Bruno Guimaraes might start agitating for a move away. And United need to take advantage if that happens.
