United plotting surprise move for Bundesliga midfielder, “in prime position” to complete “steal of the summer” – report

Carlos Baleba has emerged as Manchester United’s dream target for their midfield.

The Brighton & Hove Albion star has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting midfield talents, two years after joining the Seagulls from Lille.

The Cameroonian has now landed on United’s radar. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils have contacted Brighton to explore the possibility of signing their midfield gem.

However, any deal for Baleba is expected to be very difficult, as Brighton are not interested in selling him this summer. They have slapped a £100m price tag on him to fend off his suitors.

Manchester United eyeing Baleba alternatives

According to TBR Football, United are eyeing six cheaper alternatives should the Baleba deal fail to materialise.

United are understood to be interested in Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who was a pivotal part of Ruben Amorim’s squad in Lisbon.

They have also been linked with Spanish midfielders Javi Guerra and Mikel Jauregizar. Guerra, in particular, could leave Valencia amid a contract stand-off.

The very athletic Lamine Camara is another name on United’s short list. He enjoyed a stellar campaign in the middle of the park with AS Monaco.

Man United interested in Bundesliga midfielder Angelo Stiller

Further, the Mancunians are reportedly monitoring Angelo Stiller, who has earned plaudits for his exceptional ball retention ability.

It is claimed that the lack of European football at VfB Stuttgart could leave United “in a prime position to complete what could be the steal of the summer.”

The Bundesliga sensation has also attracted interest from Real Madrid as Xabi Alonso is believed to be his huge admirer. However, Los Blancos appear to be prioritising other areas.

Lastly, United have shown interest in Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume.

After a number of failed loan stints, the ex-Inter Milan talent has found his feet in Seville, helping his side avoid relegation from La Liga with his strong defensive performances.

It is thought the 23-year-old Frenchman “would undoubtedly jump at the chance” to leave Sevilla for a move to Old Trafford.
