United plotting blockbuster summer swoop for world-class star who “has no future” at his club – report

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a sensational swoop for Napoli star Victory Osimhen during the upcoming summer transfer window.

United are eager to strengthen their attack, particularly up front, as both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have struggled for consistent goalscoring form.

Osimhen is a player United have been linked to for several years but a move has never materialised. He was mentioned to be on the club’s radar in January but a deal never got over the line.

There were even suggestions that United made a verbal offer in an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford but he ended up staying at Galatasaray, where he’s currently on loan from Napoli until the end of the season.

So far this term, he has registered an impressive 17 goals and five assists in 23 appearances across the Super Lig and the Europa League.

Earlier on Thursday, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Osimhen is on United’s transfer list even though the Red Devils are aware of his high transfer fee and substantial wage demands.

Now, GIVEMESPORT reveal that United remain undeterred in their pursuit of the 26-year-old and are gearing up to lodge an offer for him.

According to the news outlet, “Manchester United are plotting a summer bid for Osimhen, according to GMS sources, after Amorim and members of the Old Trafford hierarchy have pinpointed the Nigeria international as a proven goalscorer who is capable of revolutionising their side by making them more potent in the final third of the pitch.”

“Osimhen is on course to be available when the transfer window reopens for business as it has been made clear that he has no future at parent club Napoli after he attempted to force a permanent move last year.”

“GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United have begun making plans to hold negotiations over Osimhen, who has been in prolific form during his time in the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray, despite an awareness that he will have a lucrative price tag and seek a pay package which would push their revised wage structure to the limit.”

Osimhen’s release clause is expected to drop to around £63m. United are weighing up the possibility of selling Hojlund and Zirkzee to generate funds for his signing.

GMS add that United are not the only party eyeing Osimhen. Juventus are also admirers of his and could rival the 20-time English champions for the goalscorer’s services.

Osimhen is likely to want Champions League football and this may place United at a disadvantage, even though they have a chance of getting into the competition by winning the Europa League.

Juventus are better positioned to clinch Champions League football, with the Turin outfit currently fifth in Serie A and just two points below fourth-placed Lazio.
