Michael Carrick’s arrival at Manchester United has coincided with Harry Maguire’s return to the starting eleven from injury.  The towering centre-back kept Erling Haaland quiet in the Manchester derby and dealt well with most of the crosses at Arsenal. Maguire was a pivotal part of United’s side when Carrick assisted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and it seems the interim head coach will rely heavily on the England international this time as well.  However, the 32-year-old is nearing the end of his time at Old Trafford, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season. Furthermore, the club’s hierarchy have no intention of improving their current proposal, leaving the ball in the defender’s court.
