United new boy aiming to torture favourite nemesis and break side’s streak of poor results against them

Manchester United travel to London to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the league this Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils have faced the Lilywhites 203 times in history. United have come out on top 96 times with Spurs winning 58. There have also been 51 draws between the two sides. Nonetheless this has not been true in recent years. The Red Devils actually played against Tottenham four times last season and unbelievably lost all four matches. United were defeated in both league matches and were dumped out of the Carabao Cup 3-4. Most painfully of all, Ruben Amorim’s side lost the Europa League final 0-1 in May to the North Londoners. The BBC report that, “Manchester United are winless in their last seven meetings with Tottenham in all competitions (drawing two and losing five), losing each of the last four – the last team to win five in a row against the Red Devils were Liverpool between 2000 and 2002.” Spurs’ home struggles In spite of Spurs’ great run over United, it is ironically one of the weaker Tottenham teams of recent years. They finished 17th in the league last season and have the same number of points as United this year after 10 matches. In fact, “no side has lost more home Premier League matches in 2025 than Tottenham Hotspur (nine). Only in 1994 and 2003 (10 in each) have Spurs reached double figures for home defeats in a year in their league history.” United will certainly be hoping to inflict a little revenge on Thomas Frank’s side after the pain they caused them last season. Bryan Mbeumo loves facing Spurs United’s summer signing has started off well, scoring five goals in all competitions. Tottenham also chased the Cameroonian in the summer but he chose to move north to Manchester. Mbeumo has a great record against Saturday’s opponents. Only against Southampton and Brighton (five) has the attacker scored more Premier League goals than he has against Spurs (four). What’s more, he seemingly loves playing in London as three of the four against them have come at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
