United negotiating to sign incredible World Cup winner, can join straight away as free agent – report

Manchester United are interested in re-signing Paul Pogba, as per reports.

Ruben Amorim is experiencing a midfield crisis at United. Kobbie Mainoo has been sidelined for a number of weeks after suffering a calf injury in training. Meanwhile, Mason Mount has also struggled to remain fit, barely featuring under the new United head coach.

Christian Eriksen’s availability has provided little relief, as the Dane has appeared off the pace whenever handed any opportunity by the Portuguese.

Amorim seemingly thought he found Casemiro’s replacement in Toby Collyer but an injury to the young midfielder has forced the gaffer to rely on the Brazilian, who has been a frustrating figure in the middle of the park this term.

The United manager could certainly do with a new midfield option and it appears the Red Devils are trying to hand him one mid-season.

Manchester United plotting Paul Pogba return

According to Fichajes, United have shown interest in bringing Pogba to Old Trafford for the third time.

The Mancunians are reportedly “willing to offer” the Frenchman a one-year contract.

Further, United are planning to negotiate a “lower salary than expected” with Pogba and offer him performance-based bonuses.

Pogba is without a club after agreeing to terminate his Juventus contract after his drug ban was reduced from four years to 18 months. He hasn’t played professional football since September 2023.

The 31-year-old will be allowed to return to action in March but needless to say, he will need plenty of time to regain his full match fitness. This explains why United are allegedly cautious with their proposal.

However, as far as his ability is concerned, Pogba could prove to be an incredible wild card for Amorim. He could add plenty of dynamism, creativity, and flair to the side’s midfield.

Moreover, the World Cup-winning star could also play the wide playmaker role higher up the field, as shown under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at United.

Having said that, the outlet add that Pogba’s options are not limited to United, as clubs from the MLS are also open to offer him an opportunity to relaunch his career.
