United managerial target wants release clause to be added so that he can join “dream” club in the future – report

Before Manchester United’s win against Sunderland on Saturday, Ruben Amorim was under a lot of pressure owing to the dismal start to the new season.

While INEOS publicly backed him, there were rising calls for the co-owners to relieve the head coach of his duties and hire someone else.

The summer strategy of signing Premier League-proven players had worked a treat, and hence Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co. were mulling over adopting the same strategy for their managerial hunt.

Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth had emerged as a target, but the favourite was Oliver Glasner, who has done a fabulous job since taking over at Crystal Palace.

Glasner at Palace

On top of his impressive record with the Eagles, the Austrian’s current deal also expires next summer and despite Palace’s best attempts, he is yet to sign on the dotted lines.

That gave the Red Devils hope of getting their man, but now, Sky Sports has revealed that the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has his eyes on another job.

He is desperate to coach Bayern Munich, whom he considers his dream club, and even if he signs a new contract with the Selhurst Park outfit, he wants a release clause than can be triggered by the Bundesliga giants.

“Current Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner dreams of one day taking the reins at Bayern Munich.

The Austrian coach, whose contract with the London club expires at the end of the season, is highly coveted by the Palace management, who are keen to extend his contract.

Dream job now revealed

“However, even if he renews his contract, a move to Bayern would not be ruled out; a specific release clause could be included in the new contract to allow for this transfer if the opportunity arises.

“The Eagles are only hoping that Vincent Kompany (under contract until June 2027) continues to perform at the highest level with the Bavarians in order to encourage them to keep the Brussels technician in his position.”

Palace will be hoping Vincent Kompany can continue to impress in Bavaria, while Ruben Amorim will also heave a sigh of relief.

The pressure on the Portuguese has subsided following the win over the Black Cats, but the result will mean nothing if the team cannot produce the goods against Liverpool after the international break.
