According to Corriere dello Sport (page 16), Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is persistently pushing for a reunion with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Morocco international has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils this summer and has reportedly agreed to personal terms. However, the club still needs to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

Ten Hag is eager to bring his former Utrecht player to United, but the club has not yet made a suitable offer. Fiorentina are open to selling Amrabat, provided their asking price of €30 million is met.

Fiorentina owner and president, Rocco Commisso, is currently in a waiting phase with nearly a month remaining in the summer transfer window. United have already spent £162 million (€188 million) on new signings but has recouped less than £21 million (€24.5 million) from player sales.

The Red Devils may not make a formal bid for the African star until they offload a couple of players. Fred has been listed for sale, and he could leave for around €10 million.

Donny van de Beek is also a potential departure, and United have set an asking price of £25 million (€29 million) amid interest from Real Sociedad.

If United successfully sells both Fred and Van de Beek, they may make a genuine effort to sign Amrabat, who would be a valuable upgrade in the defensive midfield position.

Casemiro is currently the established first-choice player in the defensive midfield position for United. However, Amrabat’s potential signing would bring quality competition to the team, given his impressive ball control and excellent distribution skills.

Amrabat is unlikely to be content with a back-up role at United. As a 26-year-old, he will be determined to work hard and seize the opportunity to break into Ten Hag’s starting plans whenever it arises.
