United making “concrete inquiries” for talismanic midfielder keen on joining an “ambitious top club” – report

Manchester United are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs that have asked about the possibility of signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Malik Tillman.

Tillman is enjoying another brilliant season with PSV, backing up his nine-goal and 15-assist effort from last term with even more impressive numbers. So far this campaign, he has plundered eight goals and four assists in 19 appearances.

This tally includes a sensational brace, which he netted this week as PSV came back from two goals down to beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 in the Champions League.

The 22-year-old initially joined the Eredivisie outfit on loan from Bayern Munich in 2023 before they elected to make his stay permanent.

It’s believed that Bayern retain a £30million buy-back and a sell-on clause for Tillman, which becomes active next summer.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa were all eyeing a swoop for Tillman.

It was stated that Ruben Amorim is an admirer of the USMNT star, who he believes can perfectly slot into his favoured 3-4-3 formation.

Sky Sports Germany have now confirmed that United, Spurs and Villa are indeed vying to secure Tillman’s services, with the clubs making “concrete inquiries” over a January swoop for him.

The problem for United and other interested parties is that Tillman’s contract, which is in the region of €30m – €40m, can only be triggered when the summer transfer window commences.

If an English club wants him in January, they will need to negotiate a fee with PSV, who will be free to demand any sum they deem acceptable for their player.

Sky Germany add that Tillman wants to play for “an ambitious top club” in the “long term” – a stance that suggests he may be open to sealing a big move to the Premier League in the near future.

It’s understood that at the moment, a return to Bayern is “currently considered unrealistic.”

United are back in action on Sunday when they host Sean Dyche’s Everton.
