United make ambitious offer to land 26-yo star, Bruno Fernandes will love the signing – report

Manchester United and Chelsea are locking horns for Sporting CP goal-machine Viktor Gyokeres, as per reports.

On Sunday afternoon, United were left rueing missed chances yet again, as the Red Devils failed to win all three points in the Manchester derby.

City were there to be beaten, and Bruno Fernandes did create multiple chances but his teammates could not capitalise.

At this point, it is widely accepted that both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are not cut out to spearhead United’s attack.

The club’s hierarchy have the same view, as they are reportedly looking to sign a high-profile number nine.

Manchester United want Viktor Gyokeres

According to Fichajes, United are determined to sign the Sporting superstar but face firm competition from Chelsea.

Both Premier League giants have reportedly offered a fee of €75 million” (£64.07m) for the 26-year-old Sweden international.

Gyokeres’s contract, which runs until 2028, includes a release clause, valued at €100m.

Gyokeres established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers under Ruben Amorim in Lisbon and it appears the Portuguese tactician is keen on reuniting with his former forward at Old Trafford.

The Swede has not hit the brakes on his progress following Amorim’s mid-season move to United, having so far bagged a staggering 43 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this term.

Chelsea also want to reinforce their attack and believe that Gyokeres, who shined in the Championship with Coventry City, can adapt to the Premier League fast.

The Spanish outlet fail to underline Gyokeres’s preference. Fourth-placed Chelsea are in a position to offer Champions League football, while United may be considered a lucrative option for him due to his history with Amorim.
