Manchester United’s loss to Newcastle only served to exacerbate the problems the club is facing at the moment when it comes to injuries. The defence has been stretched thin, with Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, and Patrick Dorgu all sidelined, while Noussair Mazraoui also hobbled off injured at St. James’ Park. The Red Devils have also struggled to break down low blocks in recent games, and they could have done with more attacking options on the bench. They are missing the presence of Mason Mount, who was a key performer under Ruben Amorim. Capable of playing all across the frontline, the Englishman has three goals and one assist from only 11 starts this season. Mason Mount is being sorely missed Michael Carrick could have done with his energy off the ball, and creativity on it to break down the Magpies’ backline. He has been sidelined since the Fulham game, but had returned to training last week. CentreDevils have now provided another injury update. They have claimed that while United’s other stars have been given a two-day break, the United No.7 has been busy working hard in the gym as he looks to accelerate his recovery process. The coaching staff, however, do not want to rush him back and want to manage his workload in a bid to avoid further breakdowns this season. Injury update “CentreDevils can exclusively reveal that Mason Mount has been at Carrington carrying out gym work as part of his rehabilitation programme while he continues pushing towards a return to action. “The midfielder has been working alongside Manchester United’s fitness coaches during the break, even as the rest of the squad spend time away before returning to training tomorrow. “Mount’s continued presence at the training base highlights his determination to accelerate his recovery and get back involved with the first-team setup as soon as possible. “Manchester United’s medical and conditioning staff are carefully managing the midfielder’s workload, with gym-based rehabilitation forming a key part of the process before he resumes full training.” Mason Mount could return just in time for the business end of the season The report indicates that the former Chelsea ace is yet to rejoin full training, and it will be interesting to see if he can make it in time for the blockbuster contest against Aston Villa next weekend. Carrick will be delighted to have Mason Mount back, and hopefully, he can play a key role in helping the club qualify for the Champions League.
