United handed dream opportunity to snap up explosive La Liga attacker after key update – report

Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Levante striker Etta Eyong. Eyong interest While United are prioritising midfield reinforcements this summer, other positions are also in need of strengthening, including striker. Benjamin Sesko enjoyed a very positive maiden season in England following his big-money move from RB Leipzig last summer. The Slovenian plundered 11 Premier League goals. No player in the top flight netted more times than him in the second half of the campaign. Nevertheless, it is imperative that sufficient depth is provided. This matter could take on added urgency in the event that Joshua Zirkzee exits the club. Zirkzee struggled for playing time in the 2025/26 season under both Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick. There has been chatter that a return to Turkey for the Dutchman is on the cards, with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and AS Roma all said to be interested. Eyong has caught United’s attention. The electric forward has been one of La Liga’s breakout attacking stars since his September 2025 move from Villarreal to Levante, where he put pen to paper on a four-year deal. The Cameroonian bagged seven goals and four assists in 33 La Liga appearances last term. Barcelona have previously been mentioned to also be of interest to Eyong, but a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Blaugrana don’t view him as a priority target. It has been consistently mentioned that Eyong is protected by a release clause worth around €30m. Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that this price has been slashed, a development that could be of interest to United if they are indeed keen on materialising their interest in Eyong. Eyong transfer latest Jacobs wrote on X, “Exclusive: Etta’s Eyong’s release clause has been reduced to €20m from July 1 after a contractual amendment was agreed with Levante.” “Eyong is currently prioritising a move to England.” Exclusive: Etta’s Eyong’s release clause has been reduced to €20m from July 1 after a contractual amendment was agreed with Levante.
