Manchester United have produced numerous young stars from their academy over the years. Many have gone on to have incredibly successful careers at Old Trafford but some have slipped through the net. Therefore, The Peoples Person asked its readers to vote for who they thought is the academy player that they most regret the club getting rid of. Mason Greenwood United fans have voted Greenwood as the club’s biggest regret. 46% of fans believe the exciting forward is the one that got away. Greenwood has been in immaculate form for Olympique de Marseille over the past two seasons. He currently has 11 goals and assists in as many games in Ligue 1 this season. Nonetheless, Greenwood’s situation is a little different as the club did not get rid of him owing to his form on the pitch but due to his legal problems. Gerard Pique 24% of readers felt that Pique is the player the club should regret the most letting go of. At the time, United had two all-time great centre backs in front of him in Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. Moreover, it has been stated that Pique wanted a return to Catalonia and was never going to stay in England even if the club had wanted him too.
