United continue youth recruitment drive with “concrete inquiry” for sensational 16-year-old striker talent – report

Manchester United have launched an attempt to sign AIK Fotboll’s 16-year-old attacker Kevin Filling.

Youth signings

The Red Devils have one of the finest academies in England and have been keen to add to it since Ineos took over control of footballing operations at the club.

Last summer, exciting talents like Chido Obi and Sekou Kone were secured ahead of rivals and are now knocking on the door of the senior squad.

This summer window has seen the signings of teenagers Enzo Kana Biyik and Harley Emsden-James in an even greater attempt to add to United’s exciting bunch of youngsters.

Ineos do not seem finished yet as they have been linked to yet another top talent.

Kevin Filling

According to Swedish newspaper Expressen (via Fotballskanalen) the Red Devils also attempted to sign young talent Kevin Filling.

“AIK’s Kevin Filling had a dream debut in the Allsvenskan when the 16-year-old scored in his debut against IFK Göteborg” but he has since been injured.

The paper comments that “both Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in Filling and have made concrete inquiries about the player.”

Nonetheless, both clubs face a potential roadblock as “after Brexit (the UK’s withdrawal from the EU), English clubs cannot sign foreign players before they turn 18.”

Therefore, United’s intention was to sign the player and then loan him to Lausanne in Switzerland, like they have with Kana Biyik.

Tottenham also had a similar idea, but to loan him directly back to AIK.

The Premier League clubs are “reportedly keen to sign Filling before he breaks through further and the price increases.”

No deal possible yet

However, the Swedish side are not currently open to selling the player at this moment.

Shortly after making his senior debut, the exciting youngster signed a three-year deal at the club to tie down his future in Sweden for the foreseeable future.

Nonetheless, it is likely United will keep tabs on the youngster’s progress and could certainly make another move for him in the future.
