United considering triggering release clause to sign sensational Barcelona talent – Sky Sports

Manchester United are reportedly considering signing Barcelona midfielder Juan Hernandez Torres.

In Erik ten Hag’s first summer at United, the club’s hierarchy spent months trying to convince Frenkie de Jong to leave Barcelona for their project.

De Jong eventually didn’t push for a move to Old Trafford and ended up remaining at Camp Nou. United, meanwhile, landed Casemiro from Real Madrid late in August.

The side’s midfield is expected to be a major area of concern in Ruben Amorim’s first summer at the club as well, and a report suggests the Red Devils are once again following a Barca midfielder.

According to Sky Sports, United have been “tracking” Hernandez Torres, who is considered one of the most exciting prospects in Catalonia.

The Spain U18 international is known for his close control and tactical awareness and has been widely tipped for big things.

The attacking midfielder, who turns 18 in July, was a “key part” of Barca U19s UEFA Youth League-winning side. He made 10 appearances in the competition this season, scoring two goals, including the winner in the semi-final against AZ Alkmaar.

Hernandez Torres appears on the verge of making his senior debut under Hansi Flick, who has trusted many La Masia products in his maiden season at Barcelona.

However, now, the La Liga outfit face a battle to keep hold of him with two Premier League clubs circling. His current contract at the club is valid until the summer of 2026.

The report claims United as well as Chelsea are considering “whether to trigger a £5m (€6m) buyout clause” in his contract this summer.

It is understood that United and Chelsea have “embarked on a philosophy” of trying to sign the best up-and-coming talents.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the two English giants are battling for the signature of Blackburn Rovers’ young forward Igor Tyjon.
