Manchester United and Arsenal are both interested in signing Molde midfielder Sivert Mannsverk, according to reports in the French media. The 20-year-old played a key role as Molde won the Norwegian Eliteserien title last month, and he was later called up for Norway’s friendlies against Ireland and Finland. Mannsverk did not get on the pitch for either fixture, but he is very close to getting his first cap, and his performances have certainly attracted the attention of bigger clubs. Ajax are also believed to be tracking the midfielder, in addition to United and Arsenal, and Molde are expected to demand a reasonably high fee for the player. The Norwegian champions are likely to hold out for around €10m (£8.8m) to sell Mannsverk so we shall have to wait and see whether United are prepared to pay such a sum. Considering that funds for the January transfer window are thought to be limited, this deal may have to wait until the summer.
