Manchester United have been handed a massive boost, especially given what is now being reported about Juventus star Khephren Thuram. Indeed, in a summer during which INEOS are hoping to transform their engine room, move on from Casemiro and upgrade on Manuel Ugarte, Thuram stands out as one of the finest central midfielders to whom the Red Devils have been linked. Moreover, as a dynamic, physical box-to-box midfielder appreciated for his exceptional ball-carrying ability, tactical intelligence, and defensive recovery skills, Thuram looks tailor-made for the Premier League. Notably, his rise in Turin has not gone unnoticed, with former Liverpool forward Jermaine Pennant labelling him “spectacular” and likening him to Steven Gerrard. Consequently, United, if not Liverpool, now have a fantastic chance of bringing Gerrard 2.0 to the Premier League, given what Tuttosport is reporting. Khephren Thuram: a dream Saudi Pro League target The Italian outlet reports that Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are keen on Thuram and were ready to table a substantial contractual offer to lure him away from Premier League competition. However, an option to move to the Middle East “does not convince the player from a sporting perspective. His entourage has reportedly evaluated the proposal carefully, yet without making any concrete moves towards a transfer.” Instead, “Thuram wants to play in Europe at Juventus or in the Premier League, should he be sold.” Furthermore, “The English league currently represents the most popular destination in the event of a Juventus departure,” the outlet adds. Liverpool and Manchester United on alert over Thuram With this in mind, and with a Premier League switch clearly appealing to the six-foot-three midfielder, the report goes on to highlight the likely destination, noting talk of a “possible inclusion of clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United”, with both sides reportedly “monitoring the situation closely.” Plan after £35m Ederson transfer Reports suggest that after Ederson, who is set to complete a £35 million move from Atalanta, United may look at Premier League stars Mateus Fernandes and Alex Scott as a double midfield swoop to complete their overhaul. Yet, Thuram could still emerge as a wildcard addition should either target fall through. After all, if he can be even half as good as Gerrard, the 25-year-old has everything needed to shine in the Premier League, and he could do exactly that at roughly half the price of the other top midfield targets. Ultimately, Juventus are believed to want around €45 million (£38 million) to sanction his departure, with the Italian side under considerable pressure to agree a significant sale following their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
