Twist in Garnacho saga as Napoli choose German forward over United winger – Fabrizio Romano

Napoli and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly close to reaching a full agreement for the transfer of Karim Adeyemi.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between the two clubs have advanced significantly, with the deal expected to be finalised at a fee of around €40 million, lower than the initially speculated €50 million.

The negotiations are expected to resume after this weekend’s matches, as both clubs are focused on their upcoming fixtures.

This development could significantly impact the transfer landscape, particularly given Napoli’s previous interest in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine winger was considered a priority target for Napoli in January as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

However, Napoli’s agreement with Adeyemi, a player who plays in a similar position to Garnacho, suggests that they might have shifted their focus.

This could open the door for other clubs to pursue Garnacho, with Chelsea reportedly among the parties interested in securing his signature.

Chelsea, meanwhile, might view this as an opportunity to intensify their efforts to sign the United youngster, as Napoli’s interest wanes.

Garnacho has emerged as a dynamic presence for United since his first-team debut under former manager Erik ten Hag.

His youthful exuberance and raw aggression on the pitch gave the team a much-needed spark, often shifting momentum in United’s favour during critical moments.

However, like many young talents, Garnacho has exhibited inconsistencies in his performances and areas for technical improvement.

Despite these challenges, fans are eager to see him develop further within the squad.

That said, United’s precarious financial situation may force difficult decisions.

If the club needs to balance the books, Garnacho’s sale could be considered, even if reluctantly, as his talent will attract significant interest and a sizeable transfer fee.
