The Premier League season gets underway tonight when Arsenal take on Brentford, but a host of clubs are still busily trying to strike transfer deals
Lukaku to Chelsea: Most expensive Premier League signings ever
It barely seems a week since Euro 2020 ended in heartbreak for England, but tonight, the Premier League returns.
Arsenal travel to newly-promoted Brentford to kick-off what looks an increasingly fascinating top-flight season.
But the start of the campaign doesn’t mean the end of the transfer window, with clubs able to negotiate moves until the end of August.
And there are still a number of high-profile transfers in the offing. Manchester United are hoping to finally announce the signing of Raphael Varane after he completed his medical earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku’s arrival at Chelsea means that Tammy Abraham looks destined to leave amid reports that Serie A giants Roma have had a bid accepted.
Arsenal are still in the market for a number of positions, including goalkeeper, but may be forced to look beyond Aaron Ramsdale, after being priced out of a move.

Barca offer Coutinho to LazioBarcelona have reportedly offered Philippe Coutinho to Lazio in a desperate attempt to lower their spiralling wage bill.
The Blaugrana have been unable to register the majority of their new signings and saw Lionel Messi leave in an attempt to hit LaLiga’s salary guidelines.
Coutinho is one of the club’s highest earners and according to Mundo Deportivo, although Lazio would be interested, his huge wages would be a stumbling block in any kind of transfer.

Lukaku confirmedOne deal that has been completed however is Romelu Lukaku’s £97.5m Chelsea return.
The move was finalised on Thursday night, meaning no player has been sold for more combined transfer fees than the £285m spent on the Belgian striker.
Speaking after his move, Lukaku said: “It’s been a long journey for me: I came here as a kid who had a lot to learn, now I’m coming back with a lot of experience and more mature.
“The relationship I have with this club means so much to me, as you know. I have supported Chelsea as a kid and now to be back and try to help them win more titles is an amazing feeling.
“The way the club is going fits my ambitions perfectly at 28 and just coming off winning Serie A. I think this opportunity comes at the right time and hopefully we can have a lot of success together.
“Since I left Chelsea, it’s been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs, but these experiences made me strong and the challenge is to try to help the team win some more trophies. I can’t wait to get started and to help the club achieve more success.”
