Transfer bombshell: United wonderkid could be off to La Liga with Barcelona plotting sensational summer deal – report

Despite Manchester United’s hard-fought come-from-behind win against Ipswich Town on Wednesday, most of the headlines following the game have centred around the conduct of Alejandro Garnacho.

After Patrick Dorgu’s direct red card, Ruben Amorim decided to bring off the Argentine while bringing on Noussair Mazraoui as he looked to shore things up at the back.

The 20-year-old was obviously not pleased as he stormed straight down the tunnel and the head coach was asked about his player’s conduct following the game.

Not only that but the Argentine’s post-match social media activity also attracted the ire of fans and pundits alike, with the media trying to create a major controversy.

Trying to artificially engineer a controversy

But Amorim handled the situation pretty well, holding a private talk with the player while explaining in the pre-match press conference that Garnacho’s punishment would be to treat his teammates to a dinner.

But that has not stopped the rumour mill from going overboard with Fichajes claiming Barcelona are keen to take advantage of the broken relationship between the United coach and winger by trying to secure his signature in the summer.

The Blaugrana outfit feel Garnacho’s speed, dribbling ability perfectly suit what Hansi Flick is looking for while his youth and potential are also huge positives.

“Alejandro Garnacho is experiencing moments of uncertainty at Manchester United. Despite his undeniable talent, his relationship with Rúben Amorim is not going through its best time. Faced with this scenario, Barcelona has started to closely monitor his situation, considering that he could be an interesting addition to their squad.

“His continuity at Old Trafford has been called into question due to certain incidents that have not completely convinced the technical management. If the situation does not change in the coming months, the English club could consider offers for him in the summer market.

Barca eyeing Garnacho

“At Barcelona, his profile would fit the team’s style of play. The Blaugrana squad is looking for players with the ability to create imbalance in the final third, and Garnacho could be an attractive option. Furthermore, his youth and potential make him a signing that would align with the future project that the Catalan entity aims to consolidate.”

Given United’s PSR woes, there have been murmurs that the co-owners could look to sell the United No 17 in the summer should an appropriate offer be tabled.

There was interest from both Chelsea and Napoli in January but nothing came of it. But given the versatile forward’s drop-off in form, Amorim could be open to letting him go.

While no amount has been mentioned in the report, United will look to earn close to £80 million from his sale, a price the Catalan giants will find hard to pay given their own financial woes. So for now, take this report with a huge pinch of salt.
